Anne Carney Raines

Anne-Carney Raines’s practice is rooted in her background in scenic painting. Her canvases often depict staged spaces filled with curtains, murals, doorways, blocked passages and rooms within rooms. Raines’s preoccupation with the psychology of place and space comes across most clearly in her eerie play with the presence and absence of human figures. Anne-Carney completed an MA in painting at the RCA in 2022 and is the two-time recipient of the Elizabeth Greenshields Foundation Grant. Recent exhibitions include: Hopscotch (Soho Revue, London) ‘Pleasure Zones’ (Wilder Gallery, London), ‘Window’, (Dans les Yeux, Paris.) She currently lives and works in the UK.
